Winsor Primary School

PE

At Winsor, we recognise the value of Physical Education as an essential subject that promotes lifelong attitudes, such as respect and cooperation and a contributing factor in developing a long term healthy lifestyle.

Following the national curriculum, children enjoy two PE sessions every week at Winsor and learn a range of skills and sports, including dance, gymnastics, team games and athletics.

In Year 5, pupils also have the opportunity to experience swimming.

Our class teachers are supported by a specialist PE Teacher, who also supervises the sports coaches and sports apprentices who deliver many of the after school clubs.

The school has high quality sports facilities with three halls, a large sports field, a netball pitch and two concrete five-a-side pitches. As a member of Newham School Sports Partnership, we are able to provide opportunities for pupils to take part in many competitions at inter and intra-school level.

Children should come prepared for sport on their PE days by bringing a Winsor PE t-shirt in the same colour as their House Team, navy shorts or jogging bottoms and suitable footwear for sports.

We are excited to announce that our success in PE has been recognised, with the School Games GOLD Mark Award for the 2018/2019 academic year.  The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. We are delighted with our achievement as this was the first time that Winsor Primary School became Gold in the School Games Mark award scheme.
